Catechesis means an education of children, young people, and adults in the faith of the Church through the teaching of Christian doctrine in an organic and systematic way to make them disciples of Jesus Christ. Those who perform the ministry of catechesis in the Church are called “catechists.” (Definition from Glossary to Catechism of the Catholic Church (“CCC”), Second Edition.)
The Parish has developed a religious education program (catechesis), led by the Director of Religious Education (“DRE”) at OLL and the Coordinator of Religious Education (“CRE”) at SJM, for children and youth that transmits the teachings and customs of the Church, and prepares the children, youth, and their families to celebrate the sacraments of initiation. (Registration is required along with a small fee to cover materials.)
For the 2019-2020 school year, religious education classes for children and youth both at OLL and SJM began Sunday, September 15, 2019, as follows:
OLL and SJM also have Youth Groups for the youth.
